Addiction Recovery from NAD Therapy
Are you struggling with addiction? Are you looking for methods associated with anti-aging? NAD therapy addresses these two key states. Addiction recovery and anti-aging techniques are incredibly important for improved quality of life.
What is NAD?
NAD (Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide) is a cofactor central for our metabolism. It is found in every single cell within the mitochondria. The mitochondria are the “batteries” within each cell. Given as an IV, NAD therapy repairs damaged DNA and changes the midbrain addictive properties.
Our neurons adapt to what we do on a daily basis. This is called neuroadaptation. For instance, imagine someone who drinks alcohol every night. The neurons become programmed to expect the addictive substance to come in and keep the pattern of addiction going because it is the new norm for their neurons. This is the same for sex, narcotics, work addictions, etc. NAD reorganizes neurons back to their state. Chronic addiction interrupts the ease of the nervous system into dis-ease, meaning without ease. NAD needs to be replenished for healthy cell turnover, especially in the brain.
NAD for Addiction Recovery and Anti-Aging
For addiction recovery, the IV’s are given every day for an average of 8-10 days with the longest IV being 8-12 hours. Anti-aging IV’s are shorter and can be done once a month as a maintenance for 3-5 hours. For anti-aging properties, it repairs every cell in the body and rids inflammation that interferes with proper cell functioning.
Furthermore, NAD patches are also effective tools to use. Patches are to be worn for 6 hours opposite of the time that you are receiving NAD IV therapy. Patches can also be used pre and post IV therapy to further help detoxification.
A common side-effect is feeling as if you are having a “heart attack”. The term in quotations as it will not cause a heart attack. There are simply more mitochondria in the heart than any other tissue. For this reason, you will feel the process of regeneration. You may feel flu-like symptoms but those will clear quickly. Some people get nausea and diarrhea in which case we lower the drip rate and administer Zanaflex every 6 hours as needed for gut spasms.
NAD IV therapy usually requires one infusion per day for 10 days for addiction, and as needed for inflammation for aging. The increased mental clarity and lack of cravings should begin around day 4 with steady improvement until the treatment period is over.
Narcotics, alcohol and smoking are the most commonly successful treatments outside of anti-aging. The most difficult to detox from are Methadone and Buprenorphine which may require higher doses of NAD for longer periods of time, typically not exceeding 12 days. If you don’t tolerate 1500 mg of NAD the first day, your tolerance will improve each day.
Typical IV NAD Protocol
NAD IV infusion over 8-12 hours at a rate not to exceed 150 cc/hr
- 1500mg NAD in 1000 NS IV on day 1 and 2
- 750-100mg NAD in 500 NS IV days 3 and 4
- 500-750 mg NAD in 500 NS days 5 through 8
- 750mg NAD in 500 NS days 9 and 10
Prescriptions you may need during treatment
Clonidine 0.1-0.2 mg 2-3 (p.o. 4 hours) times a day as tolerated for opiate withdrawal PRN
Zofran 4mg 3 times a day every 6 hours as tolerated for nausea PRN
Phenergan 25 mg p.o. every 6 hours per nausea vomiting PRN
Baclofen 10-20mg every 6 hours per restless leg/muscle cramps PRN

Supplements to help with your success
Liposomal Vitamin C 3000mg/ 3-4 times per day as tolerated during detox
NAC 600mg/ 3 times a day (reduces inflammation of the brain)
Reacted Magnesium one cap 3 times daily
Puritan’s Pride Calcium, Magnesium, Potassium one tab 3 times a day on days 1 and 2 and 2 tabs two times on days 3-10
Ultimately, the success of NAD IV’s depends on your desire to quit and the length of time you’ve been on the substance. The longer you’ve been on the substance and the higher the dosage that you took, the worse your detox symptoms and the longer it may take to recover.
